Kuldeep Yadav being unfairly treated or is he simply unlucky?

(Cricket news) Kuldeep Yadav returned to Test cricket after 22 months for the 1st Test against Bangladesh. He scored 40 crucial runs in the first innings and ended up taking 8 wickets across two innings for which e won the player of the match but was still dropped for the 2nd Test. The conditions in the 2nd Test were more favorable for seamers hence India played an extra pace bowler. The decision did work as Jaydev Unadkat picked up 2 wickets in the first innings. However, from Kuldeep Yadav’s point of view it is incredibly harsh and it has not happened to him for the first time.

A left arm wrist spin bowler or a chinaman is the most rare find at any level of cricket. This Indian team has always been clear about preferring the right combination over personnel which has worked just fine. In the tour of England, Ravichandran Ashwin, who is arguably the best spinner the world didn’t play a single match as India wanted to play 4 seamers. To say that Kuldeep Yadav’s talent is being wasted would be very harsh as India has backed him for the past few years. He suffered an injury a couple of years ago and after recovering he was brought back into the ODI squad straight away.

Kuldeep Yadav’s quality is undeniable but the team will have to play whatever they feel is the right combination. He is still just 28 years of age and has a lot of cricket left in him. A wrist spinner is the most affective in SENA countries and it will be interesting to see if the management picks him ahead of Ashwin in the near future. What’s really important in this situation is the attitude of the player and the communication of the captain and coach.
