Cricket Ireland: Almost €490k in funding announced for cricket equipment

Cricket Ireland is delighted to confirm that almost €490,000 in sports equipment funding for cricket has been awarded by the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin TD, and Minister for Sport and Physical Education, Thomas Byrne TD,

(Cricket news) This significant investment was announced today as part of an overall Government package of €26 million in new equipment grants under the latest round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (SCEP).

Welcoming the announcement of the funding, Cricket Ireland CEO, Warren Deutrom said:

“We are delighted to see our clubs and projects benefitting from this latest round of funding. We would like to sincerely thank both Minister Martin and Minister Byrne and their staff for their support during this latest allocation of grants.

“This is a very significant nationwide investment in our community-based sport and will greatly assist us with our plans to ensure everyone can engage with cricket, which is a sport for life and one of equal opportunity. We are delighted for those clubs that have received support in today’s announcement, and we strongly encourage all eligible clubs to avail of this fantastic scheme in future to help enhance their facilities for their members and their communities.

“Cricket Ireland and the Provincial Unions have worked closely with clubs over the past year assisting them with applications in many ways, and it’s really great to see this work has paid dividends”.

It is expected that additional allocations for clubs that applied for solely capital works or capital works with an equipment component will be announced in the coming months.
