(Cricket News) The upcoming 17th Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to begin on March 22, which is exactly five days after the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is scheduled to end. The IPL will run until May 26, which is five days before the West Indies and Caribbean T20 World Cup begins.

The Indian team’s first World Cup match is scheduled to begin on June 5, nine days later.
The WPL’s tentative schedule, which was discussed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with its stakeholders, states that the league will take place from February 22 to March 17. As previously reported, Bengaluru and Delhi will host the league.

The BCCI is confident that the entire league will be held in India; they have received assurances from most cricket boards that their players will be available until the final.

Though early departures of some players cannot be ruled out, given that the T20 World Cup begins on June 1, the BCCI is still primarily concerned with keeping the schedule in line with the general elections. The IPL schedule is closely linked to the General Election schedule. The BCCI is quietly considering holding the tournament in the window between March 22 and May 26.
