IPL 2023: Who will Quinton de Kock replace in the LSG line-up?

Quinton de Kock is joining LSG after completing his international duty which creates a selection headache
IPL LSG

(Cricket news) IPL 2023 is underway and it has already served up some incredible moments. LSG have played 2 matches, a win against DC and a loss against Chennai. In the IPL only 4 foreign players allowed to be in the starting XI. Before the season everyone expected LSG’s 4 foreign players for IPL to be Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran and Mark Wood. However due to de Kock joining late, Mayers got his spot and made the most out of it.

Now that De Kock is back, it will be very difficult for the captain and the management to select the XI. Mayers scored 73 off 38 balls against the Delhi Capitals and 53 off 22 balls against Chennai Super Kings. He has been incredible with the willow showcasing his power especially in the powerplay. Even though he hasn’t showed it with the ball yet he is pretty handy with his medium pace. It will be very harsh if Mayers is dropped in the next game but De Kock was 3rd highest run scorer in the IPL last season. Both players will want to open and won’t be as effective in the middle order.

It is highly unlikely that captain KL Rahul bats in the middle as he hasn’t done that in a long time in T20Is. Nicholas Pooran plays the finisher role and has played 2 decent knocks while Mark Wood was the player of the match against Delhi. Marcus Stoinis may face the axe as KL Rahul isn’t using him with the ball as he has a lot more options with the impact player rule. Whatever it is, it will be a difficult decision and whatever the decision is, it will be questioned if things go wrong. LSG’s next match in the IPL is against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home.
