Inter take on Torino while AC Milan face struggling Sampdoria

(Football news) After a week to forget for Inter Milan they aim to bounce back against Torino on Saturday in their third straight game at San Siro. They were beaten in both the Derby della Madonnina and their Champions League opener against Bayern over the past few days. The Nerazzurri now welcome an in-form Torino side. The odds of Inter reaching the knockout stage in the Champions League for a second year running are looking slim, especially with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern in top form. Inter are sitting eighth in the early Serie A standings and Inzaghi must improve his results fast.

Inter have won each of their last six Serie A home games and they always score at least twice in the process. Not only that, they are unbeaten against Torino since 2019, subsequently winning five times and only suffered a draw when the clubs' met most recently in March. Torino summer signing Nikola Vlasic opened his account with a strike against Cremonese last matchday and was also on target in a loss against Atalanta as he struck for a third straight game and those three points lifted Torino to sixth in the Serie A standings: one point ahead of  arch-rivals Juventus.

Torino possible starting lineup:

After an eventful week, AC Milan resume their title defence on Saturday when they visit Sampdoria at Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Fresh after tasting success in the Milan Derby, the Rossoneri were held to a entertaining draw in their first UCL encounter of the season, and they now meet a struggling team at the wrong end of the Serie A standings. The Rossoneri now aim to continue their unbeaten start to the season in Genoa as they have won each of their last three matches against Sampdoria.

AC Milan are sitting third in the table just two points off top spot and no team has lost fewer matches than Milan throughout the top five European leagues in 2022. Pioli's men have averaged almost 2.29 points per game this year, only Liverpool and Manchester City are the other teams to have fared better than AC Milan. Rafael Leao's form has played a large part in that as the 23-year-old has been involved in the most Serie A goals during that time, scoring 10 goals and assisting nine.
