(Cricket news) Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is in doubt for the 2nd test against England after sustaining an injury on the fourth day of the first test. Jadeja was visibly in discomfort and was seen holding his hamstring after he was run out by Ben Stokes on Sunday.
He was taken for scans in Hyderabad post the game and the reports from his scan have been sent to Mumbai. An evaluation of the severity of the hamstring injury is expected today (Monday), with some sources suggesting that he might have to miss the forthcoming test starting on the 2nd of February.
Jadeja’s response to the injury on his way back was unimpressive, and the preliminary evaluation is not very positive, but yet there is nothing conclusive to determine his availability in the next game. A professional medical opinion is anticipated by evening today.
If Jadeja misses out in the next test, it would be a big blow for India who are coming off a defeat. He has been an integral for the team in all the three aspects of the game and is also one of India’s leading run getters in the past few years.
Jadeja was dismissed by a direct throw at the non-striker’s end from Ben Stokes while attempting a run off a Joe Root’s delivery. Rahul Draivd the Indian head coach left the matter open-ended in the post-match press conference stating he had no information. “I honestly haven’t had a chance to speak to the physio as yet. Once I get back, I’ll speak to him and see what it is about,” said Dravid when asked about Jadeja’s fitness.
