India’s recurring issues with left arm fast bowling

Mitchell Starc has troubled several Indian batters in this series so far and it isn't the 1st time a left hand fast bowler has done that
India Vs Australia

(Cricket news) In the 2 ODIs between India and Australia, Mitchell Starc has wreaked havoc. Conditions have been swing friendly but Starc has exploited it to another level. The Australian has picked up 8 wickets in the 2 games displaying incredible consistency and swing. Bowling over the wicket and bringing the ball into the right hander is a skill that Starc has mastered over the years and Indian’s more often than not fall for it. India have struggled a lot against left arm seamers who bowl quick and swing the ball. Trent Boult, Shaheen Afridi, Reece Topley are just a few examples.

The major reason for that is because left arm spinners are very rare to find. Currently Arshdeep Singh is the only Indian on the international circuit and he too isn’t as quick as Starc or Afridi. the hosts definitely needs to work on it and that is where they need a net bowler to tackle that problem. India should also look at options to add a left arm seamer to their own attack. Arshdeep Singh, Mohsin Khan, Khaleel Ahmed are some of the options. With both bat and ball left handers are such an asset to have as it makes it difficult for the opposition.

India’s struggle with swing in general has been recurring. That is something that needs a lot of attention especially with the World Test Championship final coming up in England. The men in blue will be under a lot of pressure to win the decider ODI at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai as they haven’t lost a single home ODI series at home since 2019 which was also against Australia. Fans will be hoping to see a high scoring contest as the first 2 games have had very low scores.
