India take on Zimbabwe to try and finish as table toppers

(Cricket news) India are one step away from making it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. A win over Zimbabwe will not only ensure their qualification but it will also mean that they will top the table. Qualification is possible even if they lose but they will need other results to go their way. India have not played the best of cricket in the tournament so far but getting into the semis is all that matters. The match will be played at the MCG where India beat Pakistan in emphatic fashion in the opening game. Even for a game against Zimbabwe, the stadium is reportedly sold out which just shows the craze for the Indian side in Melbourne.

India's possible playing XI:

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh

Bench:

Dinesh Karthik, Harshal Patel, Deepak Hooda, Yuzvendra Chahal

India have pretty much gone for the same line-up in all 4 games so far. All eyes will be on Dinesh Karthik who is yet to deliver in this tournament. Even more so as he is keeping Rishabh Pant out of the side. Against Netherlands was the only game that India won convincingly, so they would want to beat Zimbabwe with a big margin to take that momentum into the knockouts. If India do somehow secure qualification before the match then they may look to make a few changes in order to rest some players and give others a chance to play.

Zimbabwe possible playing XI:

Wesley Madhevere, Craig Ervine (c), Regis Chakabva (wk), Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Milton Shumba, Ryan Burl, Luke Jongwe, Tendai Chatara, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani

Bench:

Brad Evans, Wellington Masakadza, Tony Munyonga, Clive Madande

Zimbabwe's last game was a disappointing loss against the Netherlands which ended their hopes of making it to the semis. They have an opportunity to end on a high with a win against India, having already beaten Pakistan earlier. Raza is undoubtedly the key player for Zimbabwe with the other one being Ngarava. Their biggest hurdle will India's middle order duo of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav. If the Zimbabwe bowlers manage to get those two out cheaply then they are in with a chance.
