India rest Rahul and Kohli as they aim for whitewash vs South Africa

(Cricket news) India have already sealed the series against South Africa by winning the first two games. The men in blue now prepare to play the 3rd T20I in Indore. According to various reports, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are going to be rested for the game. This will be India's last official match before the T20 World Cup as the team will travel to Australia after the match. The focus will be on India's death bowling which has been a big issue for the past 2 months or so. South Africa will be keen on avoiding a whitewash and ending the series on a good note.

India possible playing XI:

Rohit Sharma (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Arshdeep Singh

Bench:

Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav

Shreyas Iyer has always been Virat Kohli's direct replacement at number 3 and that will continue. Since there is no other opener in the squad, it will be a good opportunity for Rishabh Pant to get some valuable time in the middle. Shahbaz Ahmed is likely to make his international debut to replace Pant in the middle order and It will also give India a 6th bowling option. India's death bowling has been way below par in the past month or so which is very alarming before the World Cup and that is the only thing Rohit Sharma needs to sort out.

South Africa possible playing XI:

Quinton de Kock (wk), Temba Bavuma (c), Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Dwaine Pretorius, Wayne Parnell, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi

Bench:

Rilee Rossouw, Tristan Stubbs, Reeza Hendricks, Lungi Ngidi

Getting back Tabraiz Shamsi would be a good move especially in Indore conditions. Heinrich Klaasen and Dwaine Pretorius who performed exceedingly well in the last T20 series against India have spent the last two games on the bench. It may be time to bring the two back in to try and avoid a whitewash. After two ducks in a row, skipper Temba Bavuma is under massive pressure and this will be a good game for him to release some of it with a good knock.
