India reaches 100 medals at the Asian Games

India has won 100 medals at the current Asian Games after the women's kabaddi team won gold in Hangzhou by defeating Chinese Taipei in an exciting final 26-25

(Sports news) A spectacular raid by Pooja helped the team take a 14-9 advantage into halftime. Prior to Chinese Taipei scoring five in a row, it increased its lead to seven points after the game resumed. The women’s kabaddi team of India upset Chinese Taipei 26-25 in the exciting final to win gold in Hangzhou, China, on Saturday, giving the nation the elusive 100th medal at the 2018 Asian Games.

India was restricted to a 34-34 draw by the same opponent in the group stage, but the women in blue were able to run out the clock with a one-point advantage at the conclusion of the summit match.

After trailing 14-19 at one point in the match, Chinese Taipei, the bronze medalist from 2018, inflicted the first all out of the game on India to go 21-19 up.

After a successful review, Pooja received a critical touch point as time was running out and the score was 24-24. In the final two raids, the women in blue maintained composure in order to finish the game and secure the victory.

After a shocking loss to Iran in the 2018 championship match, the winner in 2010 and 2014, recaptured the gold title. India has won 25 gold, 35 silver, and 40 bronze medals at the current Asian Games.
