(Cricket news) Bangladesh were 7 none at the beginning of the day. India started the day really well as Ravichandran Ashwin got rid of Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mohammed Siraj dismissed Mominul Haque very early. Senior players Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim once again couldn’t stay at the crease for a long time as they were dismissed by Jaydev Unadkat and Axar Patel respectively.

After getting a century on his debut in the last game Zakir Hasan once again displayed his quality with a well made 51 off 135 balls. The youngster held strong despite wickets falling at the other end. Umesh Yadav was the man who got rid of him with a well directed short ball.

Axar Patel bowled a really good spell as he dismissed Mehidy Hasan for a duck and later got rid of Nurul Hasan who was looking really good. Hasan tried to play a counter attacking knock but could only manage to add 31 runs. Liton Das played an incredible knock of 73 off 98 balls hitting 7 fours. He came in under a lot of pressure and played with a lot of grit and courage.

Das was a little fortunate as Virat Kohli dropped him a few times in the slips. He was finally dismissed by the ever energetic Mohammed Siraj who continued to come in hard. Taskin Ahmed scored an unbeaten 31 which were priceless runs. Bangladesh were bundled over for 231 meaning that India needed to chase 145 runs.

Shakib Al Hasan opened the bowling and trapped Shubman Gill in front on the very first ball. The ball just missed the wickets but the Bangladesh captain nicked his opposite number KL Rahul who had to walk back. Cheteshwar Pujara was also dismissed cheaply by Mehidy Hasan to put India in a spot of bother. Instead of Virat Kohli, Axar Patel walked in at number 4 for India. He wasn’t sent in as a night watchman but just to get in a left and right hand combination.

Hasan continued bowling well as he got rid of Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli before the end of day’s play to give Bangladesh a chance to win the Test. Jaydev Unadkat walked in as night watchman and held fort along with Axar Patel. Bangladesh now have a real chance to cause a massive upset but India are still favorites as they only require just 100 runs with Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin yet to come.
