(Cricket news) It took India only fifty minutes to pick the last four wickets on the final day and go 1-0 up in theTest series against Bangladesh. The two Bangladeshi batters who started off the day in Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan, came out with a vision to counterattack early in the day. Mehidy Hasan creamed a cover drive off Siraj and looked set to support his skipper but was soon dismissed as he tried driving Siraj who then gave an easy catch to backward point.
This however did not stop Shakib who went into overdrive particularly against Axar Patel. He slog swept him for four and then audaciously lofted him for sixes and brought up a quick fifty, as he proceeded in the same manner en route to his 84. The blows did not worry India, who managed to keep the fields up even when Shakib was clearing the boundaries. That eventually paid off as Shakib tried one shot too many and was bowled when he tried to sweep Kuldeep Yadav after a knock that contained six sixes and six boundaries.
Post that dismissal, Bangladesh failed to show any grit or determination as they lost the last two wickets fell in quick succession when Kuldeep had Ebadot caught at short leg while Axar Patel got past the helpless defence of Taijul Islam. The two left arm spinners ended up sharing seven wickets in the innings with Kuldeep bagging his best-ever match haul of 8-113. The 188-run victory ensured that India could not lose the series and gave them their seventh win in the World Test championship which meant that they moved 2nd in the World Test Championship table after Australia battered South Africa in Brisbane.
