India beat Bangladesh by 5 runs in close rain affected encounter

(Cricket news) India defeated Bangladesh by 5 runs (DLS) in a rain affected thriller. The Men in Blue are now top of the table and are very well placed to qualify for the semi finals. Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and put India into bat first and Rohit Sharma later said that he would've batted first anyway. India brought back Axar Patel for Deepak Hooda while Dinesh Karthik was fit enough to retain his spot in the side. Bangladesh on the other hand brought in an extra seamer by replacing Soumya Sarkar with Shoriful Islam.

Batting first India didn't have the best of starts as they once again lost Rohit Sharma early. KL Rahul finally got back into form as he smashed 50 off just 32 balls. He hit 3 fours and 5 sixes in his innings that gave India a great start. Virat Kohli continued his incredible form by hitting an unbeaten 64 off 44 balls. The former Indian skipper hit 8 boundaries and a maximum in his innings. Kohli showed intent from the very first ball to accelerate the run rate which is not his usual game. Suryakumar Yadav scored a quickfire 30 off 16 balls but was dismissed by Shakin. Unfortunately for India Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik and Axar Patel couldn't hang on to the crease.

Ravichandran Ashwin produced some late fireworks hitting a four and a six in his innings of 13 of six balls. Taskin Ahmed bowled a brilliant new ball spell as he gave away just 15 runs but failed to pick up a wicket. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan picked up 2 crucial wickets. Hasan Mahmud picked up 3 wickets despite going for 47 runs. Bangladesh bowled well in patches but India in the end found a way to score runs. The innings ended at 184/6 which looked like a stiff total.

Liton Das gave Bangladesh the perfect start as he scored 60 off just 27 balls. He played an amazing knock consisting of 7 fours and 3 sixes. Bangladesh were 66/0 in 7 overs before rain stopped play and Bangladesh were given a revised target of 151 in 16 overs. After the rain stoppage, Bangladesh had to get 85 off 54 balls with 10 wickets still in hand. The break changed India's fortunes completely as they came back into the game. India got the wicket of Das immediately after the restart as KL Rahul's throw from the deep hit the stumps directly with the batter well short. Bangladesh collapsed like a pack of Dominos as Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh got 2 wickets each while Mohammed Shami got a scalp. Nurul Hasan produced some late fireworks to keep Bangladesh in the game till the last ball but India kept their cool.
