(Cricket news) After the IPL and the World Test Championship final, India will travel to the West Indies for 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 5 T20Is. The ODI series is a great challenge for India with the Asia Cup and the World Cup coming up. The last ODI series was a pretty disappointing one where the men in blue lost 2-1 against Australia at home. There are three changes to the squad but the core is pretty much the same. Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer are still unavailable due to their respective injuries.
India’s squad for the West Indies ODI series:
Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar.
Mohammed Shami has been rested from the entire tour as he has had a busy period for the past couple of months. Washington Sundar after a series of injuries has been dropped once again. Jaydev Unadkat and Umran Malik both keep their places in the squad while Mukesh Kumar earns his maiden ODI call-up. Sanju Samson has returned because of the injury to KL Rahul while Ruturaj Gaikwad is also back in the mix.
The playing XI might not have many changes but there are a couple of players who can be tried out. Once again Suryakumar Yadav has been given an opportunity to replicate his T20 form in ODIs which just hasn’t happened yet. Rohit Sharma needs to score runs because he has been out of form for way too long now.
