(Football news) Liverpool have been in decent form in the league recently. Their last match was a 7-0 win over rivals Manchester United which was a statement. The Merseyside club have an almost impossible task in the UCL midweek where they will have to comeback from a 5-2 deficit at the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid but first they have an away fixture against bottom placed Bournemouth. The Cherries are 20th on the table 1 point off safety and a win over Liverpool will be a massive result.
Liverpool still have a few injury problems as Joe Gomez, Thiago Alcantara, Luis Diaz and Calvin Ramsay are out of contention while Naby Kieta is also a doubt. Arhtur has recovered from his injury and has played for the Liverpool under 21s. The Brazilian however is yet to be named in the squad and it remains to be seen if and when he makes the bench. Jurgen Klopp may well be considering resting a few key players with the Real Madrid game in mind. Having said that, this is still a very important game and Liverpool need a victory to keep going forward in the top 4 race.
Bournemouth on the other hand will be missing Hamed Traore, Ilya Zabarnyi, Marcus Tavernier, Lloyd Kelly, Matias Vina, David Brooks and Junior Stanislas while Jefferson Lerma could return after missing the Arsenal game. Bournemouth were 2-0 up against league leaders Arsenal but ended up losing 3-2. They will be hoping to put in a similar performance this time in front of their home crowd. Liverpool will be very high on confidence but they can’t afford to be complacent. The front 3 of Cody Gakpo, Mohamad Salah and Darwin Nunez is finally gelling well together and it is important that they keep the momentum up and show some consistency.
