Hyderabad FC score five past NorthEast United to move onto the second spot on the league table

(Football news) Indian Super League club Hyderabad FC moved onto the second place on the league table after a dominant 5-1 victory over NorthEast United at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Monday. It took just 12 minutes for Hyderabad FC to break the deadlock when Chinglensana Singh found the back of the net while a brace from Bartholomew Ogbeche in the 27th and 78th minute against his former side added to NorthEast United’s woes. Two more goals by substitutes Aniket Jadhav in the 90th minute and Javier Siverio in the 93rd minute was more than enough to secure the three points while Laldanmawia Ralte scored for the Highlanders against his former club in the 43rd minute.

Having secured the three points against NorthEast United, Hyderabad FC is now 2nd on the Indian Super League table, two points behind reigning champions and leaders Mumbai City FC while NorthEast United endured their fourth defeat in six games and they are 10th on the table with just four points. The inclusion of Edu Garcia was a major boost for Hyderabad FC as the Spaniard had not featured since the first gameweek. The 31 year old came close to a goal in the 10th minute but his freekick went over the bar but he was instrumental in Chinglensana Singh breaking the deadlock just two minutes later as NorthEast United goalkeeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury failed to react in time while the defenders were out of position to stop the ball from getting into the net.

Having scored the first goal, Hyderabad FC pushed for a second but Bartholomew Ogbeche missed a golden opportunity when the Nigerian was unmarked and received the ball from Ashis Rai’s cross. However, the 37 year old redeemed himself immediately as he smashed the ball into the net in the 27th minute after being set up by Edu Garcia. However, Laldanmawia Ralte halved the deficit in the 43rd minute after the 28 year old capitalized on Suhair’s blocked shot to pounce on the free ball and find the net. The goal added some rejuvenated vigour into NorthEast United FC as they tried get back into the match Lalkhawpuimawia attempted a bicycle kick and Joe Zoherliana's cross found Danmawia's head but went over the bar.

Hyderabad FC head coach Manolo Marquez made changes to ensure his side maintained their lead and it was Ogbeche who scored his second of the evening in the 78th minute to restore the two goal cushion. When the game was almost over, Javier Siverio made a brilliant impact, assisting Aniket Jadhav in the 90th minute to make the score 4-1 before finding the net himself in the 93rd minute to ensure a dominant victory for Hyderabad FC. The side will next face FC Goa on Saturday, 18th December at 9:30 pm IST at the GMC Athletic Stadium.
