(Tennis news) While Rune has had a constant presence on the ATP Tour this season, form hasn’t been on his side. Much was expected of him in 2024 but he has failed to live up to the expectations so far.

Although he began his season with a finals appearance in Brisbane, he fell in the second round of the Australian Open shortly after. Such has been Rune’s story this year that he has performed inconsistently throughout this season. Now the Dane will look for redemption at the ongoing French Open and a confident win against Evans will be the first step in this direction.

On the other hand, time is running out for Evans in tennis. At 34, he has only a few years left before he calls time on his career. Like Rune, his season has been anything but great, with first-round losses being a common feature.

As a result, he has also looked to play on the Challenger Tour to gain some confidence. His best result this year came in the Bordeaux Challenger where he reached the quarterfinals. Despite this poor run, Evans will look to give his best when he faces Rune later today.

Although playing on the ATP Tour for quite some time now, Rune and Evans haven’t come against each other on the tennis court. As a result, their first-round clash at the French Open will be the maiden meeting between them. Although Rune looks strong in this clash, fans can expect some surprises from Evans, this being their first meeting.

By no means can Rune take Evans lightly. Being an experienced player, he has been in this situation before and knows what it takes to defeat good players. Nonetheless, Rune is predicted to hold off Evans’ challenge and win the match in four sets. Their match will take place on Court Suzanne Lenglen later today.
