Harry Kane levels rare Premier League feat with goal against Crystal Palace

(Football news) Antonio Conte has breathed new life into Harry Kane's career at Tottenham Hotspur. The England captain now has 8 goals in all competitions this season. He netted the opener against Crystal Palace at home on Boxing day as Spurs won 3-0.

The goal against Palace was Kane's 9th goal in a boxing day fixture which makes him the player with the most goals on the historical day along with former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler. His first boxing day goal was in 2014 against Leicester City. He then netted twice against Norwich City the following year. Kane then scored on four consecutive boxing day fixtures from 2017 to 2021 a hat-trick against Southampton and 1 each against Bournemouth, Brighton and now Crystal Palace. Fowler also has 9 goals while Robbie Keane and Alan Shearer have 8 goals each.

Harry Kane clearly wanted to leave Spurs before the season but the move was blocked. Since then the striker has looked like the shadow of the player who had the most goals and most assists in the Premier League last season. Antonio Conte has clearly had an effect on Kane. This seems to be just the beginning of his resurgence as Kane could go on to lead Spurs to a top 4 finish. His link-up with Son Heung-min looks dangerous once again. It also fits perfectly with Conte's counter attacking gameplay. Spurs' next game is away at Southampton where Kane will be eyeing another goal and a win for his side.
