Hakim Ziyech’s loan move to PSG fails at the last moment

Chelsea sent 'wrong documents for Hakim Ziyech deal three times' leaving PSG furious
Ziyech's deal to PSG is off

(Football news) Paris Saint-Germain were on the verge of signing a loan deal for Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech but according to Fabrizio Romano the move has collapsed as Chelsea failed to register the move in time before the close of the January transfer window on Tuesday. PSG  had agreed a loan deal for the rest of the season, with no option to make the move permanent in the summer but Chelsea couldn’t get the move over the line as they were busy concluding a deal for Enzo Fernandez.

The defending Ligue 1 champions submitted all the paperwork on time and are ready to appeal the decision by the French league in order to make the move happen today. PSG were keen to add one more  wide attacking player to replace Pablo Sarabia, who left for Wolves last week and also act as a cover for Messi. Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax in the summer of 2020 in a deal which was worth up to €44 million but he has since struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot under three different managers.

The 29-year-old this season has just made four Premier League starts and is now set to be pushed further down the pecking order after Chelsea made several attacking signings in the January transfer window. Hakim Ziyech struggled to establish himself at Chelsea and now with the signing of Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk for up to €100m as well as adding Portugal forward Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid, he will now become 4th choice in the forward line.

Graham Potter’s side sealed a British record transfer to sign Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez before deadline on Tuesday. Ziyech would have been reunited with his Morocco teammate Achraf Hakimi as the Moroccan had already discussed the potential move with Hakimi. According to journalist Bruno Salomon,  the Blues messed up the paperwork on three separate occasions as the Chelsea chiefs were preoccupied with the arrival of Enzo Fernandez for a British record transfer fee of £107 million.
