(Football news) Chelsea and Galatasaray have a contract in place for Hakim Ziyech’s signings. The international player from Morocco’s future has been up in the air all summer, but he finally appears to have found a new team.
While representing Ajax, Ziyech gained notoriety. The 30-year-old winger was a reliable performer who had shown his value on the home and international stages of the UEFA Champions League.
His feats of valour for the Dutch team attracted a lot of attention from across Europe. Many teams were interested in his talents, but in the summer of 2020, he joined Chelsea for €40 million. The international player from Morocco was supposed to soar to new heights with the London club, but since moving there, his career has taken a downward turn.
With each new season, Ziyech’s playing time has decreased and he hasn’t made the kind of impact everyone had hoped he would. Last year’s FIFA World Cup 2022 saw the 30-year-old winger at the top of his game. The Moroccan national team relied heavily on him, and as a result, they became the first country from Africa to go to the semifinals of the international competition.
Although he performed admirably during the World Cup, his playing time at the Blues didn’t increase. In the end, he only played in 29 games and was on the field for under 1,000 minutes last season. Although the 30-year-old’s contract still has two years to run, his sole choice is to transfer during the current window.
In different phases of the present transfer window, he came very close to joining both PSG and Al-Nassr, but neither deal materialised. Galatasaray entered the contest to sign him when it appeared that there was little chance of a move during the current window.
A playmaker was what Galatasaray was seeking. In Ziyech, they appear to have found their man. They wanted to sign someone who could contribute creativity to their team in addition to goals. For some time, they have been trying to sign him, and now they have finally reached an agreement with Chelsea over all the details.
Only the last signatures need to be added to the transfer documents before they can be finalised. To finalise his transfer to Galatasaray, the 30-year-old is anticipated to depart for Istanbul tonight.
