(Football news) French champions Paris Saint-Germain are in direct talks with Sassuolo to bring Italian striker Scamacca to the club. The club are ready to pay €35m but U.S Sassuolo are holding out for €50 million for the young attacker. Scamacca trained in the youth academy of Lazio and Roma and went on to join PSV Eindhoven on loan in January 2015. The tall Italian attacker joined Sassuolo in 2017, making his Serie A debut at the age of 18.
Fabrizio Romano recently tweeted that PSG are in direct talks with Sassuolo for Scamacca. The tweet indicates that PSG are ready to offer a fee of somewhere around €40 million to the Italian club. However, Sassuolo has put a very firm foot on the ground constantly as they rate the tall forward quite highly and are asking for €50 million. The Italian trained in the AS Roma academy before he was transferred to Sassuolo in 2017. The young forward was bought on a four-year-long deal and made 3 appearances for the club before he was sent out on a loan spell. PSG are desperate to sign him because Mauro Icardi is set to leave the club and join newly promoted side Monza FC. Luis Campos sees him as a perfect back-up for Mbappe and gives new manager Christopher Gaitler plenty of options to tinker with his formation.
Scamacca stayed in Italy for the 2017-18 season when he was transferred to Cremonese on loan. The Italian forward failed to impress when he managed to score a goal in his 14 appearances for the Series B club but since that loan spell, Scamacca has improved a lot. He subsequently spent the 2018-19 season on loan with PEC Zwolle where the player went through a dry spell scoring in the Dutch club. The 23-year-old attacker was then transferred out to Ascoli on loan for 2019-20. Scamacca finally impressed everyone as he managed to score 9 goals while making 33 appearances. He then showcased his talent at Genoa where managed to score 8 goals, making 26 appearances as the Italian attacker was sent off on a loan to Genoa for the 2020-21 season.
He got high praises from Roberto Mancini as the forward considers Mancini as a coach that helped him improve as a player. In an interview, the player noted that Mancini helped him better his faults and taught him to correct his off the ball movement, especially closer to the goal. Scamacca had his best scoring season when he managed to bag 16 goals for Sassuolo last season. It shows that the tall Italian attacker, who is often compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has a great amount of potential. He is improving every season and it is to be seen whether PSG will pay the €50 million demanded by Sassuolo as it seems like the personal terms aren’t a problem since the player is eager to move to Paris.
