(Football news) The visitors will go into the game fresh from a thrilling 3-0 victory over Osasuna, while Getafe’s most recent La Liga match ended in a 1-1 draw with Real Betis. With seven victories, nine draws, and seven losses from their 23 games, Getafe has amassed 30 points and is currently ranked tenth in the standings. They are having a good season.

With a top-half finish more than attainable, the capital team should be looking up the table rather than down, since they are only two points behind Las Palmas in ninth position and four ahead of Alaves in eleventh.

Jose Bordalas’s team has only won one of their past five games across all competitions, and they have dropped two of their three league games in January. They will go into this game off the back of a 1-1 draw away to Betis. Getafe, who placed fifteenth in La Liga the previous year, had defeated Celta in their last four league games, including a 2-2 tie in the rematch earlier this season.

In contrast, Getafe have performed admirably at home in 2023–24, amassing 21 points from 11 games and winning six of them. This season, Celta’s performance away from home has not been dismal, as they have accumulated 10 points from 11 games—the same total as they had in front of their own fans.

Rafael Benitez’s side have had a tough campaign to date, only picking up 20 points from 23 matches, which has left them in 16th position in the table, just three points above the relegation zone.

The Sky Blues will enter this match off the back of an impressive result, though, beating Osasuna 3-0 away from home to secure a vital three points in their battle against relegation.

Celta have actually only lost one of their last five league games on their travels, while they have lost their last two at home, so another away match might be welcomed by Benitez’s team.

The Vigo outfit finished 13th in La Liga last season and have not played outside of Spain’s top flight since 2012, so it would be a surprise to see them relegated this term.
