Germany take on Romania as England and Denmark look to consolidate their position in the 2022 World Cup

(Football news) With the nation league in full flow other international teams will be looking to take a further step towards World Cup qualification. The likes of England and Denmark will virtually seal their position in Qatar next year if they win their fixtures this week.

Germany take on Romania in the Group J fixture, the Germans have bounced back after a terrible start to their qualification campaign thanks to Hansi Flick’s arrival. They sit comfortably on top of Group J with 15 points. Injury to Robin Gosens meant that Hansi Flick had to call upon youngster David Raum into the squad although Thilo Kehrer might start at left back against Romania. With Florian Wirtz’s wonderful start to the season it looks like he will make his full international debut and start alongside the Bayern duo of Muller and Sane.

England face struggling Andorra in what looks like a largely expected result. Gareth Southgate will be without a lot of regular players as they are injured but it will be an opportunity to test out the youngsters. Players like Harry Kane and Declan Rice, although in the squad, will likely get a rest as he might look to start AS Roma’s new front man Tammy Abraham and James Ward Prowse. There could be a much awaited debut for AC Milan defender Tomori at centre of defence. As of now England sit on top of Group I with 16 points and a win will take them to the touching distance of next year's World Cup.

Latvia take on European heavy weights Netherlands in a Group G fixture, Louis Van Gaal since taking over the Netherlands job has won all three matches and will be looking to make it 4 wins out of 4. The Dutch are in a tough qualifying group and victory over the Latvian’s will give them some breathing room between them and Norway, they will be without Donny Van de Beek as he has been left out of the squad due to the lack of football. The Dutch will continue to bolster a front three of Cody Gakpo, Memphis Depay and Steven Berghuis as the same combination was very fruitful against the Turkish.

Turkey take on Norway as they aim to leapfrog them in Group I, Norway will be without their talisman Erling Haaland as he is still nursing his injury he sustained three weeks ago. On the other hand Turkey will head into the match with a full strength squad as a lot of onus will be on Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Burak Yilmaz to cause a major upset. As of now Turkey are third with 11 points and can move up to 2nd with a victory over Norway who are on 13 points.

Denmark take on Moldova as they can mathematically become the first team to qualify for the World Cup with a victory over them provided Scotland – Israel ends in a draw. Denmark ever since their fairytale run in the Euros they have elevated themselves into a European super power in football. Denmark haven’t conceded a single goal in this year's qualification group and also have scored the most goals in the group stage. Denmark will look to give some youngsters opportunities as the Premier league players might be given a rest.
