Gavi to make comeback

Nearly 11 months have passed since Gavi had a devastating knee injury while representing Spain. Following the incident in November of last year, in which he suffered a rupture of his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus injury, the 20-year-old has been gradually returning to full fitness.

Gavi’s recuperation is very much coming to an end. He participated in many training sessions with his teammates last month, and Marca reports that this happened again on Friday, in preparation for this weekend’s trip to Alaves.

If all goes according to plan, Gavi will return soon. His current plan, according to the club, is for him to be part of a matchday squad by the end of October. Interestingly, that match takes place on October 31 when Barcelona plays Real Madrid in the first Clasico of the year at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Gavi can succeed in a variety of midfield roles with to his lively and adaptable playing style. His excellent ball control, dribbling abilities, and strong work rate enable him to push and regain possession with effectiveness. His passing skill is versatile, ranging from quick, short passes to sharp long balls. His tactical awareness allows for smart placement and deft runs. Gavi’s maturity for his age and ability to remain composed under duress increase his impact on the game.

Even if Hansi Flick did not risk Gavi, it would be a huge advantage for Barcelona to have him available for that game. Whether he can advance far enough to be part in that one is still to be seen.
