(Motorsports news) There were 22 races scheduled for this year, with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix postponed due to flooding. The races were jam-packed with excitement, with Max Verstappen and his Red Bull car demonstrating remarkable supremacy. The F1 season of 2024 is scheduled to start on February 29 and end on December 8, with a record-breaking 24-race schedule. A week before the first race of the season, at the end of February, pre-season testing is scheduled to occur in Bahrain.
Due to the timing change caused by the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which starts on Sunday, March 10, the first two races of the year in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will take place on Saturday nights. Due to the holy occasion, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix had to be moved up one day. Since there would be two weekends in a row, it was decided to race on Saturday in Bahrain as well, to give ample time to move all of the freight to the following race.
For the first time since 2019, the Chinese Grand Prix is scheduled to return to the Formula One schedule. The race was earlier postponed in 2023 for a fourth year in a row due to the nation’s stringent COVID-19 regulations.
What is the 2024 F1 schedule:
Pre-season testing will take place over three days from February 21–23; however, the actual start of the 2024 Formula One season will be on February 29 in Bahrain.

In an effort to make the sport more sustainable, the regulatory body of the sport, the FIA, has attempted to regionalize the schedule for the 2024 season. “I am delighted to announce the 2024 calendar with 24 races that will deliver an exciting season for our fans around the world,” said Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali. Formula 1 continues to be highly popular and in high demand, and this schedule, in my opinion, finds the ideal mix between new and established venues and classic events.
“I would like to express my gratitude to all of the promoters and partners for helping to make this fantastic schedule possible. In the upcoming years, as part of our Net Zero 2030 goal, we will continue to reduce operations and move toward a more sustainable calendar. This year’s season will have an Asian leg nearer the beginning of the year because the Japanese Grand Prix is being moved from its customary September date to April.
The event will now take place in the fourth round of 2024, right before the Chinese GP, instead of its customary summer break location. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku will now take place in the second half of the year, one week ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, due to the Japanese Grand Prix moving to the beginning of the year.
Moving the Qatar Grand Prix to the penultimate race of the season will facilitate the transportation of vehicles and equipment to Abu Dhabi for the season finale the following year, as well as address the drivers’ heat-related concerns.
