Should Manchester United listen to Erik ten Hag and buy Hakim Ziyech?

(Football news) Manchester United are having a really difficult time despite appointing Erik ten Hag as their new manager. After not making any January signings despite dreadful performances, United have managed to make only 3 signings in the transfer window so far. Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez are the only three incoming players. While they do make the team better but not to the level which is needed at a club like Manchester United. The whole Cristiano Ronaldo saga has also caused quite a bit of stir and brought unnecessary pressure on Ten Hag.

According to latest reports, the Dutch manager wants to sign Hakim Ziyech but the United board are currently against the signing. Ziyech was an unused substitute in Chelsea's opening game against Everton and will be available for the right prize. The Moroccan forward has had brief periods of good quality with Chelsea but hasn't been able to replicate the level he was at when playing under Ten Hag at Ajax. Ten Hag knows the player very well and if he can bring his level back up then it will be a good signing for United but there is also a level of risk in the move. His glory days at Ajax were 2 years ago and since then he has been struggling with injuries and inconsistencies.

United are reportedly in talks to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The signing could work very well because Manchester United desperately need a midfielder. However Rabiot's disciplinary record isn't the best. The Frenchman is often accused of having a low work rate and a party lifestyle which affects his on field performances. Benjamin Sesko, who was also on United's list has signed for RB Leipzig while the talks for Ajax winger Antony have been stopped completely. It is very difficult to see Manchester United finish anywhere near the top 4 if they don't make some significant additions to the squad before the window ends.
