Real Madrid likely to rest big boys for away game against Elche

(Football news) It has been quite an eventful 4 days for Real Madrid fans. On Sunday, Los Blancos comfortably defeated Barcelona 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu, going 3 points ahead of their rivals in the La Liga table. The next day in Paris, Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema won the Ballon D'or while Thibaut Courtois won the Yashin trophy. Now it is back to business in the La Liga for the defending champions. Real Madrid will travel to Elche to try and keep their unbeaten streak going. The Merengues are unbeaten this season after playing 14 games this season. Elche are yet to win a game this season and this match could be a long one for them.

Real Madrid played the El Clasico 3 days ago and also have games coming up against Sevilla and RB Leipzig. This would be the perfect opportunity for Carlo Ancelotti to bring in a few changes. Antonio Rudiger, Nacho, Lucas Vazquez, Eduardo Camavinga and Marco Asensio are all likely to get some substantial game time. Courtois is back in training but he is not yet match fit. The Belgian shot stopper could make a return against Sevilla. Dani Ceballos is also not in the squad due to an injury. Elche on the other hand will be without Fidel Chaves.

Real Madrid struggle to breakdown teams who defend deep which is what Elche will be doing. Despite being the only team to not win a single game in the La Liga this season, Elche do come into this game with a little bit of positivity having drawn their last two games. Real Madrid will want to break the deadlock as soon as possible because the longer Elche go without conceding the harder it is going to get for Real Madrid. It will be interesting to see what line-up Carlo Ancelotti ends up choosing because he will definitely make quite a few changes.
