PSG take on Benfica without Lionel Messi, Dortmund host Sevilla

(Football news) PSG's season has suffered minor hiccups after two back to back draws. They currently lead the Ligue 1 table by just 1 point and are 2nd in their UCL group. The French club needs to win their home game against Benfica in order to cement their place at the top of the table. Lionel Messi is out of contention due to a minor injury while Nuno Mendes is also unavailable due to injury. Even though Paris dominated possession the reverse fixture Benfica were the better team. This time around Christophe Galtier's team will be looking to use the home advantage in order to get 3 crucial points.

PSG are playing some really good football this season and they look better than ever, especially in defense. Galtier's 3-4-3 formation looks to be very solid in all areas of the pitch. The French club is still undefeated in all competitions this season. Paris are desperately searching for their maiden UCL trophy and they have a very good opportunity this season. Galtier just needs to make sure that the team doesn't choke in the knockouts like they have done in previous years. Benfica on the other hand will be looking to get a result that will significantly increase their chances of making it to the knockout stages for the second season in a row.

Borussia Dortmund will be hosting Sevilla after winning the reverse fixture 4-1. This time around things will be different as Sevilla are under new manager Jorge Sampaoli. The Argentine coach started his 2nd spell at Sevilla with a 1-1 draw at home but the performance of his side was encouraging as Sevilla were leading until Mikel Vesga's equaliser in the 74th minute. Sevilla desperately need a win if they want to stay in the race for a place in the Round of 16 while a loss could push them down 4th on the table.

Dortmund are coming into the fixture after a sensational comeback draw against Bayern Munich. The German club has a chance to almost guarantee their spot in the knockouts with a win. Dortmund will be without Sebastien Haller, Mahmoud Dahoud, Marco Reus, Luca Unbehaun and Mateu Morey Bauza. Sevilla on the other hand are missing Karim Rekik and Tecatito through injury while Oliver Torres who scored on the weekend is ineligible to play.
