(Football news) In-form Leicester City will take on reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at the King Power Stadium, having recently defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0. City on the other hand drew 0-0 against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League but will be aware that three points will send them on top of the Premier League table, albeit temporarily depending on Arsenal’s result later. Brendon Rodgers’ side have won back-to-back games against Leeds and Wolves and even a draw against Manchester City will be considered to be a fantastic result.
Last week, the Foxes were at their rampant best as Youri Tielemans, Harvey Barnes, James Maddison and Jamie Vardy found the back of the net. Their recent up-turn in form has eased some pressure from the side as they moved up to 17th place and most importantly, out of the relegation zone, two points ahead of the three teams in the relegation zone. This month, Leicester have only conceded two goals and are unbeaten at home, taking seven points from a possible nine against the likes of Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.
In team news, Wilfred Ndidi is available for selection for Leicester City, a massive boost for Brendon Rodgers but Johnny Evans remains doubtful. Ryan Bertrand and Ricardo Pereira remain injured and won’t feature in the match. Jamie Vardy is expected to be named in the starting lineup and has a tendency to score against the big teams. As for Man City, Erling Haaland might not be named in the starting lineup after being forced off at halftime against Borussia Dortmund due to a combination of fatigue, illness and a foot injury. Joao Cancelo could feature in the team while Kalvin Phillips and Kyle Walker are still unavailable. A win for Manchester City seems like the most likely result from this fixture.
