Dortmund put 5 past Stuttgart while Bayern get a comfortable win

(Football news) Borussia Dortmund brushed off their disappointing defeat to Union Berlin by winning 5-0 against Stuttgart. Two goals from Jude Bellingham and a strike from Giovanni Reyna on his first appearance of the season on Saturday to notch their first win in four league games and subsequently climb to fourth place in the Bundesliga standings. The hosts needed just two minutes to open the scoring with Bellingham slotting in from an inch perfect pass from Niklas Sule for his first league goal of the season. Sule then got on the scoresheet when he was left with too much space in the box, allowing him to volley the cross in the 13th minute, before Reyna who was making his first start of the season after a long term injury threaded in their third goal in the 44th.

After the break, England international Bellingham got his second goal of the afternoon as he curled a superb effort past keeper Florian Muller. Another quick passing combination sliced open the Stuttgart defence which allowed Youssoufa Moukoko to tap in a Raphael Guerreiro’s cut-back. Dortmund with that result are now on 19 points in fourth place, three off second-placed and four behind leaders Union Berlin.

"It was a deserved win today. We wanted to play with a lot of confidence and wanted to win it and we did it really well," Dortmund coach Edin Terzic said. "We hope to fill up on self-confidence. The early goal made it a lot easier. But we stuck with it and it was not just one solo goal but we combined as a team, won possession as a team and that is how we scored our goals. We know we have to keep working and not praise the team too much and on Tuesday we have to show an even better performance."

Bayern Munich scored two goals in the first half to win against Hoffenheim 2-0 and move within a point of leaders Union Berlin. The German champions were never at their ruthless best against a toothless Hoffenheim but their young sensation Jamal Musiala put the visitors in front in the 18th minute after being left completely unmarked. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting doubled their lead in the 38th minute when he turned the ball past goalkeeper Oliver Baumann from a tight angle. The Cameroon international has now scored in Bayern's last three matches in all competition Bayern are on 22 points in second place, one behind Union Berlin who surprisingly lost to Bochum.
