Borussia Dortmund host Manchester City at the Signal Iduna Park

(Football news) Manchester City will take on Borussia Dortmund in the Matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League. City have already secured their spot in the Round of 16 but they will be looking for a win to finish in 1st place. After losing to Liverpool last weekend the Blues bounced back with a 3-1 win over Brighton. City's last UCL game was a goalless draw against F.C. Copenhagen. Dortmund on the other hand will qualify for the knockouts with a win. They come into the game on the back of a 5-0 win against Stuttgart.

Pep Guardiola will be without the services of Kalvin Phillips and Kyle Walker who are still injured while Sergio Gomez is suspended after his red card against Copenhagen. As for BVB, Nico Schlotterbeck is a doubt after suffering an injury against Stuttgart while Thomas Meunier, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Mateu Morey, Mahmoud Dahoud and Sebastien Haller are yet to recover from their injuries. Marco Reus is close to returning but the game comes too soon for him. City having secured qualification could rest some of the big boys especially considering that they have a tight schedule ahead. Haaland was rested for the last UCL game and he could once again sit on the bench as Guardiola will also be keen to give Julian Alvarez a start.

Jude Bellingham has been in incredible form this season which is touted to be his last season in black and yellow. He holds the key if Dortmund want to get the better of City. As for City, the combination of Kevin De Bruyne and Haaland has been the key this season. If Haaland does play then he is more than likely to have an impact on the outcome. The two sides have previously met 8 times out of which both teams have won 3 a piece while 2 have been draws. The reverse fixture this season at the Etihad was a late 2-1 win for Manchester City but Dortmund will be determined to use their home advantage and get a result.
