Cristiano Ronaldo passes the 800 mark of official senior goals for club and country with brace against Arsenal

(Football news) In Manchester United's thrilling 3-2 win at the Old Trafford against Arsenal, Cristiano Ronaldo found the back of the net twice. Both his goals gave Manchester United the lead as they won 3-2 in the last game before Ralf Rangnick takes charge against Crystal Palace.

Out of the 801 goals, 5 have come for his boyhood club Sporting CP, 101 for Juventus, a mammoth 450 for Real Madrid, 115 for his country Portugal and now 130 for Manchester United. He is the highest goalscorer in the history of the UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid, UEFA Euros and International football. He also has 229 assists in addition to all these goals. His 801 goals have come in 1,095 appearances and you wouldn't put it beyond him to hit that 1000 goal mark before he eventually hangs up his boots.

Ronaldo made a point to Rangnick that he is still the man with two crucial goals. Apart from the goals, Ronaldo also put in more effort towards pressing than he usually would. The forward's lack of pressing has been the talking point despite all the important goals that he has scored. Rangnick is famous as the manager who revolutionized high press in football. He will certainly play that style and Ronaldo showed that he can play in that system. Talking about his philosophy and Ronaldo in his first press conference, Rangnick said “You always have to adapt your ideas of football – or your style – to the players you have available. Not vice versa. When you see Cristiano yesterday in the second half, at the age of 36, amazing. Top professional. At his age, I have never seen a player who is still so physically fit."

Now at the age of 36, Ronaldo is still going strong, hungry for more goals. He will be 38 when his current Manchester United and if he continues giving these performances there is no reason why The Red Devils will not want to extend his stay at the Old Trafford. The talisman is making his return to England more than just emotional and nostalgic instead having an impact and winning big games for his club. Manchester United are currently 7th on the Premier League table and have already qualified for the UCL knockouts. The appointment of Rangnick will bring fresher tactics and charisma to their style and Ronaldo is likely to be at the centre of it all.
