(Football news) Bayern Munich thrashed Mainz 6-2 on Saturday, with Sadio Mane scoring once and assisting two more goals. Mane also missed a penalty but the likes of Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and Leon Goretzka were all on target for Bayern along with substitute Mathys Tel and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting also scoring to complete the rout. Mainz did cut the deficit twice, with goals from Silvan Widmer and Marcus Ingvartsen but they were never really in the game.

Bayern got into an early lead with Gnabry as the Bavarian giants scored again with Musiala's powerful shot. Mane scored on his rebound after his penalty was saved by Robin Zentnr. Mainz, who subsequently won their three previous games in all competitions, bagged a deserved goal in first-half stoppage which was scored by Widmer who headed in from a corner after Ulreich had made a brilliant save from a spot kick to deny Burkardt. Bayern did not stop there and Mane curled in a superb cross in the 58th minute for Goretzka to head in. Two more Bayern goals completed the rout.

"It is always great to see six different scorers because it means that six players will boost their confidence," said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann. "Sadio has had a good development in the last couple of weeks. He did it well today like he did in Barcelona and I hope he will keep on like this for the next few weeks."

Jude Bellingham scored his third goal of the season to give Dortmund a 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt which lifted them into the top four of the Bundesliga standings. Bellingham, who had a quiet first half, fired BVB back in the lead in the 52nd minute after he superbly shook off his marker to score with a low shot, but Dortmund had their keeper Gregor Kobel to thank for as he protected the lead with a string of superb saves in the second half.

Dortmund are on 22 points in fourth place, three behind leaders Bayern Munich as Eintracht dropped to fifth on 20 points.The visitors were fresh from their Champions League knockout stage qualification and it took them 21-minutes to lead through Julian Brandt. Frankfurt, who are also looking to book their own spot in the Champions League round-of-16 next week, levelled five minutes later when in form striker Daichi Kamada scored for his seventh goal of the season. After Bellingham's goal, Eintracht pushed for a leveller but Kobel pulled off save after save to earn a crucial victory ahead of the World Cup break.
