AC Milan are two wins away from winning their first title since 2011

(Football news) Just two wins away from guaranteeing a first Scudetto since 2011, AC Milan take the penultimate step towards the Serie A crown when they meet Atalanta. The Lombardy rivals take on Milan at San Siro with the hosts two points clear at the top of the table following four successive wins, while their visitors are engaged in a battle for European football next term. Even a draw this match week would see Milan finish the season with more than 80 points for the first time since 2010-11, that was the last time they won the Scudetto, and much of this has been due to the recent success of the defensive resilience – despite not having certain key defenders available for the entire campaign.

With the help of Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu they have formed a formidable defensive partnership as Danish defender Simon Kjaer was sidelined by serious injury, and captain Alessio Romagnoli dropped down the pecking order. Pioli's men have faced the fewest shots in Serie A this season. Throughout this calendar year, only Liverpool have conceded fewer goals than the Rossoneri in the top five European leagues, so they have the basic foundation right which has helped them stay unbeaten for 7 matches in the Serie A.

AC Milan possible starting lineup:

Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Kessie, Leao; Giroud

Atalanta BC possible starting lineup:

Musso; Djimsiti, Demiral, Palomino; Hateboer, De Roon, Freuler, Zappacosta; Koopmeiners, Pasalic; Muriel

Inter were crowned Coppa Italia champions after an epic final against Juventus midweek,as they continue the defence of their Scudetto into Serie A's penultimate round, when they visit relegation-threatened Cagliari on Sunday. Neraruzzi are two points adrift of city rivals Milan with just two games to play, they must target victory in Sardinia to keep their slim hopes of the title alive, while their hosts are in  the drop zone and are equally desperate for three points. Inter are certainly the strong favourites to prevail on this occasion despite ceding home advantage to their latest opponents. Inter have previously won eight of their last 10 league games against Cagliari and subsequently lost just once in that spell.

Inzaghi has seen his side play free flowing football as they have regained their touch in the final third of late, scoring in each of their last 11 outings, including the four goals they scored in their comeback win over Empoli last Friday. The buoyant visitors are heavily dependent on Lautaro Martinez as he has 19 goals, following a brace against Empoli. The Argentina international could become just the sixth player in Inter's history to score  20 times in a single Serie A season before turning 25
