(Football news) Almost every new signing apart from Jules Kounde has been registered by FC Barcelona before their opening game against Rayo Vallecano this weekend. The Catalan giants sold 24.5 percent of Barca Studios to Orpehus Media and the list of registered players was announced on Friday night. The likes of Robert Lewandowski (£42.5m), Raphinha (£55m), Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie, who joined the club in the summer transfer window can now be included in the squad for the season opener on Saturday while Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto have also been registered after the pair signed new contracts.
As per the league’s regulations, Barca had to meet La Liga’s salary cap in order to register new players and the funding from several investment deals was only released after the final lever was triggered. As things stand, Barcelona will have to free up the ‘salary mass’ in order to register French defender Jules Kounde. The club have been working behind the scenes to offset their losses, reduce debt and fulfill the requirements by the La Liga which fall under the Financial Fair Play regulations.
A statement by FC Barcelona read “The agreement complements the one signed on July 29 with Socios.com, and will help to accelerate the growth of the club's digital, NFT and Web.3 strategy. The sale was conducted under authorisation of the General Assembly of FC Barcelona members last October 23. With this investment the strategic partners in Barça Studios show confidence in the value of the project and the future of digital content in the world of sport."
