(Cricket News) Following a defeat of 106 runs in the second Test at Visakhapatnam, the England cricket team made the decision to depart India and travel to Abu Dhabi. Similar to the Hyderabad series opener, the second Test match concluded in four days as the home team leveled the series with a dominant all-around display.
With the third Test in Rajkot scheduled for nine days from now, the Ben Stokes-led team decided it would be best to make the most of the break by relaxing. The players will partake in golf and other recreational activities while in Abu Dhabi before flying back to India ahead of the third assignment of what has been an intriguing match between and ball in Rajkot on February 15.
England’s captain Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum feel that the break will allow the players to recover and continue their quest to do what Alastair Cook’s team did in 2012: win a Test series in India.
Rather than traveling early to the subcontinent for practice matches, England conducted a thorough conditioning camp in Abu Dhabi in advance of the much-anticipated Test series against India.
The England team spent a lot of time in the Abu Dhabi camp prior to the series figuring out how to counter the Indian spinners. Although they came back to win the first Test, the English batsmen were completely overpowered by Jasprit Bumrah’s masterful display of reverse swing bowling in the opening innings of the second Test, and they eventually lost in their second innings in a record 399-run chase to a well-drilled Indian bowling unit.
