England take on West Indies in five match T20 series

(Cricket news) England must be still recovering from the Ashes loss as they get ready for a month-long tour in the West Indies. The tour consists of five T20 matches and three Tests as West Indies will hope to play the whole series which has been difficult due to the rise in positive cases.

The Caribbean hosts have played 19 matches against England in the T20 format. West Indies have won 11 of them but have lost the last four matches. The last time they played the format against each other was in the ICC T20 World Cup in which England dismissed the side for 56 runs. Kieron Pollard will be leading the side and Eoin Morgan will look to break MS Dhoni’s record of most matches played as captain as he is two matches short of 72. Here are the top four players to watch out for in the T20 series.

Adil Rashid

Rashid has taken at least one wicket every time they have played against the Indies. The spinner has taken 15 wickets in 8 matches against the former T20 world champions and can form a partnership with Chris Jordan as they both can form the spin- pace duo. The 33 year old took 4 wickets for 2 runs when both the teams met last time.

Jason Roy

Although Roy has always struggled against the West Indian attack in this format, the 31 year old was in terrific form in the previous season. A stylish opener, the side will need him to hit the ball well in the powerplay overs and to set his record straight against the opposition. Roy will look to Moeen Ali or Liam Livingstone to set the tune while batting.

Nicholas Pooran

The wicketkeeper batter is only 150 runs away from becoming the 7th player from his country to score over 1000 runs in the format. Pooran is a batter that the team believes in, he is not a player who will take risks from the first ball but takes time to get adjusted to the line and length before hitting a few huge ones.

Akeal Hosein

The 28 year old made his debut in the format last year and has been one of the most economical bowlers in the side. He has only played once against England and can bring in the ball towards the right hander. The left arm spinner had bowled a brilliant spell in the two matches against Pakistan where his economy was under 5.
