According to a press release by ECB, England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been given clearance by his hand consultant to return to training after his right hand continues to recover after his operation on March 29.

Archer will restart with light training this week, working closely with the medical teams of Sussex and England men’s team.

It is expected that he will be able to up his intensity with his bowling from next week.

ECB will also provide an update on his elbow injury once he resumes bowling to determine the effectiveness of his recent injection.

No decision has been made for now as to when Archer is due to return to playing.

The 26 year old is also one of the key assets of the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the IPL. It is expected that he will miss the start of the season due to his injury. The Barbados born pacer was awarded as the MVP – Most Valuable Player in 2020 IPL held at the UAE in November. Archer took 20 wickets at a brilliant economy of 6.56.

Archer suffered a cut on his hand while cleaning at his home in January shortly before heading to India to prepare for the Test series. The ECB’s medical team managed the injury during the entire tour, and it did not affect his availability. A piece of glass was removed during the operation on his middle finger on his right hand.
