(Football news) There are just five Bundesliga teams that have not lost as of 2024, and these two, especially the visitors, are off to a great start. Heidenheim is performing better than expected in their first-ever Bundesliga season as they are presently in mid-table and comfortably out of the relegation picture.
Frank Schmidt’s team has risen up the table both before and after the winter break thanks to a six-game unbeaten streak. Heidenheim defeated Darmstadt, Mainz, and Freiburg in three straight victories to close off 2023 on a positive note before the break.
Although their 2024 campaign has not gotten off to quite as strong of a start, they are still undefeated after drawing their first three games of the year 1-1. Given that they lost six of their opening seven games of the season on the road, the fact that two of those draws occurred away from home is encouraging.
Interestingly enough, the only game other than that run of play occurred in the rematch early in September, when goals from Tim Kleindienst and Eren Dinkci allowed Heidenheim to rally from a 2-0 deficit and secure a draw at Signal Iduna Park.
However, they have a far better record at home, going undefeated in five games and earning 11 of a possible 15 points. Dortmund will undoubtedly be put to the test as they aim to keep their perfect record in 2024.
Since returning to competitive action, Edin Terzic’s team has completely changed their form after an unimpressive first half of the season in which they lost all six of their games in 2023. Dortmund has surged into the top four by winning three straight games and scoring ten goals while doing so. They have done this by taking advantage of RB Leipzig’s weak start to the season.
