Does any player of this generation come close to Kylian Mbappe?

Kylian Mbappe

(Football news) France yesterday defeated Poland 3-1 with Olivier Giroud scoring the opening goal and Kylian Mbappe scoring a brace. With the 2 goals, the PSG forward equalled Lionel Messi tally of 9 World Cup goals despite this being only his 2nd tournament. He now has more World Cup goals than Rivaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Maradona, Thierry Henry, Luis Suarez and others at the age of just 23. If Mbappe continues playing at this level then he will definitely end his career as the highest goal scorer in the history of the FIFA World Cup.

During the first half of the season, Erling Haaland was on absolute fire but now with this performance Kylian Mbappe has sent a notice to the World that he is undoubtedly the best player of this generation. Players like Vinicius Jr and Erling Haaland among others are good in their own right but Mbappe is clearly above them. The Frenchman is a complete package with his speed, precision and versatility. He was subject to a lot of criticism when he rejected Real Madrid to stay in Paris with experts claiming that he wasn’t ambitious and chose PSG for money and succumbed to the social and political pressure.

Since then the player has explained his decision by saying that success is almost guaranteed at Real Madrid but to do it in his home country with PSG would mean a lot more. The level of performances Mbappe is producing shows that he is undoubtedly the best player of this generation but that doesn’t mean that he will stay the best. Both Haaland and Vinicius can up their game to reach Mbappe’s level. Someone like Rafael Leao or Joao Felix could also reach that level after a transfer to another club. At this moment in time Mbappe is the undisputed best and this World Cup has proved it further.
