(Tennis news) Novak Djokovic will enter the Australian Open as a favourite, having won the Adelaide International in a thrilling match against Sebastian Korda. The Serbian tennis player looked to be heading into a disappointing defeat but made a stunning comeback to secure a 6-7 (8) 7-6 (3) 6-4 victory over three hours and nine minutes, thereby extending his winning streak in Australia to 34 matches. The 35 year old will be targeting his 10th Australian Open title which would equal Rafael Nadal’s record of 22 Grand Slams.

Djokovic secured his 92nd tour level trophy after an absorbing encounter against Korda in the Adelaide International. He saved match point at 5-6 in the second set and surged through the tie-break to force a decider. The result meant that the Serbian is now tied with Rafael Nadal for the fourth-most men’s singles titles in the Open Era, behind Jimmy Connors (109), Roger Federer (103) and Ivan Lendl (94). Djokovic at times looked irritable in the final, especially with his coach Goran Ivanisevic who was present at the courtside box.

“Seb’s had an amazing tournament and put in an amazing effort today. I think he was closer to victory at times today than I was. It was only a couple of shots, a couple of points. I’d like to thank my team for handling me, tolerating me in the good and bad times today. I’m sure they didn’t have such a blast with me going back and forth with them, but I appreciate them being here.”

The result meant that she ended 18 year old Noskova’s impressive run, after the Czech player defeated third seed Daria Kasatkina and former Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka on her way to the final.
