(Football news) Diogo Dalot’s Manchester United career has really elevated in the past couple of years. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, he didn’t get enough chances and was loaned out to AC Milan. However, since his return, Dalot has been pretty solid and now under Erik Ten Hag, Dalot is a regular starter. His contract was ending at the end of the season but Manchester United have now extended it till 2028. The extension was always going to be imminent and even if he hadn’t signed a new deal United had the option to trigger the 1 year extension to make sure he doesn’t leave as a free agent.

Diogo Dalot has had a decent season despite having his fair share of injuries. He has stiff competition from Aaron Wan-Bisakka at right back. In big games Wan-Bisakka sometimes gets the nod due to his defensive abilities. That is one thing Dalot will be hoping to improve in the coming season. Now Manchester United will focus completely on the renewal of Marcus Rashford. The Englishman’s contract just like Dalot ends in the summer but the club has the option to trigger a one year extension. United will be hoping that they can agree on a long term deal to keep out interest from other clubs.

Manchester United have one game left this season which is the FA Cup final against Manchester City. Diogo Dalot may start on the bench for that game as Aaron Wan-Bisakka will help keep Jack Grealish under control. Diogo Dalot is likely to come on as a substitute if United need a goal. An FA Cup win will make the season extremely successful for the Red Devils after the Carabao Cup win and a top 4 finish. It is also a golden opportunity for them to stop arch rivals Manchester City from winning the treble which is a very realistic possibility.
