(Cricket news) Rajasthan Royals were handed their first defeat of the campaign as Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated them by 4 wickets. Both the teams were unchanged as Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first. RR are still on top of the table while RCB have jumped to the 6th spot. The match saw Yuzvendra Chahal, Devdutt Padikkal and Navdeep Saini play against their former franchise.
After being put into bat first, Rajasthan Royals scored 169 runs. Jos Buttler continued his amazing form with an unbeaten 70 off 47 balls. He was dropped twice which ended up costing RCB a lot. Buttler had decent support from Devdutt Padikkal who scored 37 off 29 balls. Shimron Hetmyer, just like he did in the first two matches, applied the finishing touch as he hit an unbeaten 42 off 31 balls. David Willey, Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel picked up a wicket each as RR finished their innings at 169/3.
RCB managed to chase 170 runs with 5 balls to spare. Du Plessis and Anuj Rawat gave their side a decent start as they scored 29 and 26 respectively. After Virat Kohli, Sam Rutherford and David Willey were dismissed early Shabaz Ahmed scored a magnificent 45 off 26 balls to get RCB back on track. Dinesh Karthik hit an unbeaten 44 off 23 balls to finish the game for RCB as he was also named Player of the Match. Karthik 7 boundaries and a six in his match winning innings as he made a statement. If he continues to perform like this he might be selected in the Indian side as a finisher very soon.
