Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore looking for their first trophy in Indian Premier League

(Cricket news) With the second phase of IPL coming to a thrilling finish, there are many records at stake. The playoffs begin from tomorrow as the top four teams try to get the trophy in their hands and all the teams have reached the qualifiers earlier with two former champions and two former finalists.

Delhi Capitals: 20 points (Matches played 14, matches won 10)

Delhi has topped the points table for a third time after 2009, 2012 and have won three in their last five matches. They have reached the qualifiers five times since the inaugural edition and have reached this stage for the third consecutive time. Their batting line up has been led by Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant and their bowling line has the fearsome trio of Avesh Khan, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.

Chennai Super Kings: 18 points (Matches played 14, matches won 9)

Chennai has been the definition of consistency in the Indian Premier League. They have reached the qualifiers in every season they have played except for last year when they finished seventh. They are three time champions with five runner up finishes. They have lost the last three matches but have the star line up which includes MS Dhoni, Faf Du Plessis, Shardul Thakur, Dwayne Bravo, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and Rituraj Gaikwad.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: 18 points (Matches played 14, matches won 9)

Bangalore is in the qualifiers for a sixth time and are known to falter at the big stages. They have the big names in the team like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and Ab De Villers but somehow manage to fall at the final hurdle. Harshal Patel has been the stand out player this season as he is the leading wicket taker this season and is joined by Glenn Maxwell who can turn around the match in the death overs. They have lost only one in the last five matches so things might change this time around.

Kolkata Knight Riders: 14 points (Matches played 14, matches won 7)

Kolkata is the only team in this season’s playoffs other than Chennai who have won the trophy. The two time champions have reached the playoffs for a seventh time and narrowly qualified for the playoffs edging out Mumbai Indians in the final stages, they have had 3 victories in their last five matches. Although they don’t have any stand out performers this season, the team work has clearly played the main role. Lockie Ferugson has been a contender for the fastest ball this season and Rahul Tripathi looks to continue his best season with the bat. Varun Chakravarthy leads the bowling charts while is closely followed by Prasidh Krishna and Andre Russell.
