Croatia set to play Armenia in the Euro Qualifiers

In the most recent round of Euro 2024 qualifying, Armenia will face Croatia on Monday night at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium

(Football news) The hosts are now tied on points with their opponents, who are in second place, and are ranked third in the group. Given that they are still in with a chance of making it to the group stages of the Euros for the first time in history, Armenia is probably satisfied with how they have fared at this point in qualification.

With seven points from their first four games, Havakakan is tied for third place with their forthcoming opponents and three points behind first-place Turkey with a game remaining.

Oleksandr Petrakov’s manager of Croatia has won against Latvia and Wales, surprising the latter 4-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium back in June. This has put them in a rather good position going into the next round.

While Armenia is doing well in Group D, they may look back and regret not defeating Turkey; they lost 2-1 in their first game before drawing 1-1 in their most recent encounter.

In their most recent game, Havakakan put out a heroic effort while playing away in Eskisehir. The visitors took the lead thanks to a goal from Artak Dashyan shortly after the break, but the hosts managed to tie the score through Bertug Yildirim very late on, depriving the visitors the three points.

Since Croatia hasn’t lost in any of their Euro 2024 qualification games, a victory on Monday might be of the utmost importance for Armenia. However, they will face a tough challenge.

Most recently, Vatreni put up a commanding performance against Latvia. Vatreni has played the fewest games of any team in Group D. They have only had three appearances so far, yet they have earned seven points.

Zlatko Dalic’s team defeated their opponent by a score of 5-0 at Stadion HNK Rijeka. They had a lopsided advantage in possession and had 28 shots overall.

On paper, Croatia’s 2-0 victory over what appeared to be a difficult opponent at the Timsah Arena thanks to a brace from Mateo Kovacic puts them in a solid position to qualify, but the work is far from over.

Due to their head-to-head record against Turkey, Vatreni would move to the top of Group D at the halfway point with a victory on Monday night. They would also move three points ahead of their opponents, giving them some much-needed breathing room.

Petrakov may decide to use the same starting lineup and use a 4-2-3-1 configuration because his Armenian team performed admirably against Turkey despite not being able to hold onto their advantage.

Grant-Leon Ranos has established himself in the Borussia Monchengladbach squad this season, earning two Bundesliga appearances. The 20-year-old is poised to captain the line after already scoring two goals in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

Given that Monday’s game could be a tough test and since Croatia manager Dalic started a very good squad against Latvia last time out, he is expected to pitch a similar team on Monday, also employing a 4-2-3-1 system.

With four goals in his last two games for club and country, Bruno Petkovic might provide a threat to Vatreni, while holding midfielder Luka Modric could continue to play close behind Luka Ivanusec, who scored his second goal for Croatia in the most recent game.
