(Cricket news) Hosts Bangladesh have so far gone winless against Pakistan in the recently concluded T20 series. The matches were low scoring ones and Bangladesh lost in a last ball thriller in the final match, the Test series will have two matches beginning from 26th November. Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are two of the most experienced players on the squad and both of them did not play in the T20 series. Shakib is expected to regain his fitness before the second Test as he is suffering from a hamstring injury which occured in the ICC T20 World Cup.
Shakib Al Hasan has been the greatest all rounder from his country and has been the most valuable cricketer for the team. Although he will not be playing the 1st Test, he is expected to come back in the second. Shakib has scored 71 runs in two matches this year, he is only 67 runs away from becoming the third batter in the side to score more than 4000 runs in Test matches. Shakib’s return will be a big boost ahead of the second Test match as it will also be in Shere Bangla National Stadium where he has scored 1313 runs and taken 63 wickets which is the most by any player in terms of runs or wickets.
Mushfiqur Rahim is the most capped player for Bangladesh in Test matches and ODI’s. The right hander is an explosive batter who is only 92 runs away from becoming the highest run getter for the team, only Tamim Iqbal has scored more runs than him. Rahim is also the most experienced wicket keeper for the side, with more than 400 dismissals in International cricket with a career spanning 16 years. He has scored 283 runs in 5 matches this year in Tests with two fifties. He is the only batter from the country to score a double hundred thrice and holds the record for the highest score when he scored 219 against Zimbabwe in 2019.
Although their last few matches ended in disaster for Bangladesh, they will depend on their homeground to shower some luck and give them their first victory of the series. Rahim is expected to play both the matches, Tamim Iqbal is out of the series with a thumb injury. While they will be up against a tough side, Bangladesh has a lot of experienced players waiting to battle against the young force and end the year with a commanding Test match win.
