Kyle Jamieson looking to lead the bowling attack for New Zealand in Test series against India

(Cricket news) The New Zealand tour of India has started well for the hosts with a dominating performance in the T20 series. India will now look to carry forward its form into the Test series. The first Test is in Greenpark, Kanpur and the second will be played in Wankhede, Mumbai. The Kiwis were the champions in the First World Test Championship defeating India in the final, they will try to repeat the same and will look to avenge their T20 defeat to the hosts. The top four players to watch out for from New Zealand are listed below.

Kane Williamson

Williamson has played 85 Test matches for the side and is the second highest run getter overall after Ross Taylor. He has scored 353 runs in three matches this year and scored a double century against Pakistan earlier this year. Williamson can stay on the crease battling pace, spin and can frustrate the bowlers with his longevity. He mostly relies on safe shot making and is not the one who is always taking the risk unless it is desperately needed. Williamson will surely be a troublemaker even when he is not scoring runs and will look forward to the first win of the series.

Ross Taylor

Taylor is currently the most experienced player on the team with 108 matches and is only 4 matches away from becoming the most capped player for his country. He can also become the second Kiwi batter after Willamson to score more than 20 centuries in Test matches, the 37 year old has been playing for the team since 2006 and scored the winning runs in this year’s World Test Championship final.

Kyle Jamieson

Jamieson has been one of the rising bowlers in the side, the 6 foot 6 inch right arm bowler made his debut last year against India where he took the wickets of Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara and scored 44 runs in the first innings. Jamieson has since played 8 matches while taking 46 wickets, in the final of the Test Championship he took a five wicket haul in the first innings. He is the leading wicket taker for the side with 21 wickets in 3 matches. Jamieson can become the fastest Kiwi bowler to take 50 wickets in Test matches as Shane Bond took 50 in 12 matches 16 years ago.

Tim Southee

Southee is the third highest wicket taker for the side in the format and is the currently the only player with 300 wickets. The pacer has shown consistency in all the formats and will play his 80th Test match tomorrow. Southee has taken 16 wickets in 3 matches this year and took 5 wickets in the final of the Test Championship.
