Chelsea forward Armando Broja is set to join West Ham for £30m

(Football news) Armando Broja has left the Chelsea training camp and is flying back to England, to rehab his minor foot injury but in reality he has flown back to finalise his move to West Ham United. Everton and Newcastle United were interested in him as well, but it’s looking like the 20 year will join the Hammers

It was expected last week that he will join the Hammers on loan but it’s now looking like it will be a permanent transfer, with perhaps some future considerations that may or may not involve a buyback clause in his contract. According to Fabrizio Romano,  West Ham made an “improved” £30m bid plus £5m in add-ons and are “really close”, having already agreed personal terms with the player. Broja clearly doesn’t want to go on loan again at Chelsea anymore after stints at Vitesse and Southampton over the last two years where he scored 20 goals altogether and unfortunately it doesn’t look like he is in Thomas Tuchel’s plan right now.

It’s rather unfortunate for the player but he will get to play regular football at West Ham. For Chelsea it would be favourable if a buyback clause is included in this deal to make it easier to swallow. Despite having been part of the Chelsea youth set-up since 2009, Broja has so far only made a single Premier League appearance for the south west London side during the 2019-20 campaign. During his loan spell at Vitesse in 2020-21, the Albanian forward scored 11 goals in 34 games in all competitions for the Dutch club. West Ham United will play their first Premier League match on the opening weekend of the season with the defending champions Manchester City.

Everton were heavily interested and were looking for a striker after selling Richarlison to Tottenham and there has also been interest in him from Newcastle and Napoli. West Ham have also submitted a €40m (£33.9m) bid for the Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca last week and have held further talks with free agent Jesse Lingard. However, West Ham want Lingard to lower his wage demands, with the attacking midfielder wanting £180,000 a week. Moyes is also trying to add more depth in midfield as West Ham are hopeful they will succeed with a €38m offer for Lille’s defensive midfielder Amadou Onana.
