(Football news) Chelsea’s transfer window so far has been pretty busy with both incomings and outgoings. Kalidou Koulibaly, Denis Zakaria, Joao Felix, and N’Golo Kante have officially left the club while Hakim Ziyech, Eduard Mendy, Cesar Azpilicueta, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are on their way out. In terms of incomings Christopher Nkunku’s singing that was rumored to be completed last year has now been made official. Chelsea are also working on the Moises Caicedo deal while Nicolas Jackson has now been completed.
Chelsea are in desperate need of a proper striker and Nicolas Jackson fits the plans perfectly. He is a complete player who can do everything that a striker needs to do. Last season Jackson got 13 goals and 4 assists for Villarreal in all competitions. It is a good bit of business from Chelsea. The London club have agreed to pay €37M which is €2M more than the release clause but on better payment terms. Jackson is still 22 years of age which is why is suited perfectly for Chelsea’s project. It will be interesting to see how Mauricio Pochettino uses him because at Villarreal he started off as a super-sub but became a starter later.
This definitely won’t be the last deal of the summer for Chelsea. Last season the lack of a striker was pretty evident and next season they will have both Nkunku and Jackson. Despite this, Mauricio Pochettino may still request another striker who is more like a target man. Chelsea are going through a big revamp this summer which was needed. Next season they have no European football which means that they can concentrate on the domestic fixtures fully.
