(Football news) Chelsea under new ownership are already making moves in the transfer market. The blues are one step away from completing their first transfer of the window in the form of Raphinha. The London club has reportedly agreed a £65m deal with Leeds United and the negotiations on personal terms are progressing with the player. Romelu Lukaku's loan deal to Inter Milan is almost done while Hakim Ziyech is also reported considering a move away from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have also lost Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger for free therefore Raphinha will be the first of at least 4 signings this summer.
Raphinha is a pure old school winger who usually plays on the right wing. He is extremely dangerous in one on one situation even against the best defenders in the world. The Brazilian is also an exemplary set piece taker who can curl free-kicks in with his sweet left foot. He was Leeds' highest goalscorer last season which proves that he isn't one of those wingers with no end product. Another winger on Chelsea's list is Raheem Sterling who just like Raphinha will fit perfectly into Tuchel's system. Chelsea had a disappointing last season and they will need certain changes in the coming season.
Rafinha was a target for Barcelona, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur with the Blaugrana even agreeing personal terms with the player. Chelsea was the only club who could match Leeds' demands. Saying that Raphinha isn't worth £65 wouldn't ve wrong but that's the reality of the market these days. The competition between clubs for the winger's signature was so intense that it turned into a bidding war. Chelsea under their new ownership are desperate to complete some signings quickly even if they end up over spending. As for Leeds getting £65m for Raphinha is a great deal. They will now be hoping to reinvest the money into new signings.
